Medical students in Tripura after passing the final examination will now have to work in the state or else have to pay Rs 50 lakh to the state government.  The state has a shortage of around 575 doctors.

The chief minister while inaugurating two medical camps pointed out shortage of 575 numbers of doctors in the state. Although there are two medical colleges in Tripura, each doctor after passing out from the medical colleges goes to work outside the state, Deb said.

He further said students who are taking admission in the medical college in Tripura will now have to sign an agreement that they will work for the state after passing out or else they will have to pay Rs 50 Lakh.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday inaugurated two medical health camps at Krishnapur HS School and Churraebari Biswashari temple. Deb was accompanied by Deputy Speaker Biswabandhu Sen, Social worker Tinku Roy and others. The camps were organized by heart specialist Tamajit Nath.

Huge numbers of people enrolled their names for the medical checkup. Inaugurating the camp, Biplab Kumar Deb said during the Left Front regime in the state people of Tripura did not get proper medical facility.

The state government is further taking initiative to bring technicians in the state with a salary of Rs 3 lakh per month, Deb said. The previous state government never took this initiative to work for the development of the people of Tripura and blamed central government whereas the central government was always keen to help the state, the chief minister said.
