GUWAHATI: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the special task force (STF) of Assam police apprehended three individuals from the Beltola area in Guwahati city in possession of a substantial quantity of Heroin.

The apprehended individuals have been identified as Suman Talukdar (32), Audulomi Goyari (35) and Nersing Basumatary (57).

According to Assam police, acting on received intelligence, the STF team conducted a raid at Rupkonwar Path in Guwahati and detained three individuals suspected of trafficking drugs.

“Upon search, a large quantity of heroin weighing nearly a kilogram was discovered. Upon further examination, the seized heroin was estimated to be worth Rs 10 crore,” stated an Assam police statement.

Authorities revealed that among the three, Talukdar hails from Tinsukia, Goyari from Udalguri, and Basumatary from Dhemaji.

“We have initiated a comprehensive operation against the drug trade. Our efforts include conducting thorough checks to prevent any form of criminal activity,” affirmed a police official.
