DIBRUGARH: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has suspended its 100-hour OIL blockade in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts of the state.
The students’ body decided to suspend the OIL blockade call following a proposal from Oil India Limited for talks with AASU representatives.
The talks would be held between OIL officials and AASU representatives on April 05.
Earlier, the Dibrugarh district unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), on Saturday (March 30), launched a 100-hour blockade of OIL vehicles in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts, demanding resolution of various public interest related issues.
The student body alleged that the students’ union has been making demands on various occasions, but Oil India Limited (OIL) has completely failed to fulfill the expectations of the indigenous people of Assam.
The OIL authorities have not paid any heed to the demands raised on different occasions and have been turning their backs on the demands only for the sake of making a profit, AASU alleged.
