To deal with any emergency situation that may arise either by flood and during and after the publication of the final draft of NRC in the district, the Kokrajhar district administration in Assam held a meeting with the district heads of the departments  in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.

While discussing the flood preparedness, the Deputy Commissioner Niranjan Baruah reviewed the duties and responsibilities of the departments concerned.

He instructed the PWD to maintain road connectivity in good position, Water Resources Department to arrange sufficient boats, Veterinary and Medical departments to keep sufficient fodder and life saving drugs respectively and as such, Food and Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs department for keeping sufficient stock of rice, dal, salt etc.

Regarding final draft publication of Nation Register of Certificate (NRC), the Deputy Commissioner informed that the NRC updation process in the district is going on smoothly under the guidance of the Supreme Court of India and it is on the verge of completion now.

“The District Administration is working sincerely to make the final draft publication of NRC a grand success in the district”, he said.

He also appealed the people not to panic if any of their names are not included in the draft as they would be given opportunity to register their claims and objections.

Attending in the meeting, the Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh said that they were keeping close vigil on the anti-doping social elements and trouble- mongers in order to maintain peace and communal harmony in the district.

He appealed to the public not to be misled by rumours and misinformation campaign by certain elements.

He also took stock of the flood preparedness of the departments.

He further warned such people to keep away from such activities as they would not spare anyone found guilty for creating troubles in connection with the final draft publication of NRC.

The meeting was also attended by ADCs P C Barman, Debeswar Bora, Kokrajhar P D Pranjit Wary, SDO(C )s of Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora, COs of Kokrajhar and Gossaigaon.
