Marathon Man of Sikkim, Amar Subba is all set for his new challenge of the 24 hours stadium run to be held on June 16 and 17 at the University Stadium, Marine Drive in Mumbai, Maharashtra. This 24 hours stadium run will start on June 16 at 6 pm and runners need to cover the maximum distance till 6 pm of June 17. He is leaving on Friday for the event.

He has been selected for this event on the basis of his performance in the recently held 12 hours (night) stadium run at Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad. He covered the distance of 87.2 KMs in 12 hours and finished on the tenth position. The event will have the participation of the selected ultra runners of the country.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, 50-year old Subba mentioned about his injuries after covering the distance of 75 KMs in his debut participation in 24 hours stadium run last year at Bangalore.

“I have learnt from my mistakes in the last 24 hours stadium run which led to my injuries. So this time I prepared accordingly to ensure that I would not repeat any mistake. The event is also a big opportunity for me to run along with the best ultra runners of the country,” he said. He also expressed that the experiences of the recent participation in the 12 hours (night) stadium run will also help in this competition.  Subba has set the target to cover at least 160 KMs in 24 hours in the event.
