Assam Hills Area Development minister Sum Ronghang on Sunday termed the incident of mob lynching of two youths Nilotpal Das and Abhijit Nath as ‘unwanted’ and perpetrated by some ‘miscreants’. He made this statement during the inauguration of circuit house at Maibang in Dima Hasao district.

Ronghang condemned the incident and said government will soon bring the perpetrators to book.

Sum Ronghang during his first visit to Dima Hasao district after securing the ministerial berth in the expanded Assam cabinet appealed to the BJP workers to pull their sleeves up for the NCHAC election.

Talking to the media, Ronghang said that the Government would take necessary steps to release the salaries of the Normal department employees of the NCHAC.

Speaking on the occasion, NCHAC CEM Debolal Gorlosa said, “During the two years of rule, the Council has done many things for the development of the district. The council needs Rs 80 crore to pay the salaries of the employees against the revenue collection of only Rs 24 crore per annum.”

A special edition of ‘Dima Hasao Bubli’ on the occasion of two years completion of Council was also published by DIPR during the programme.

NCHAC chairperson Ranu Langthasa, BJP’s Haflong legislator Bir Bhadra Hagjer and NCHAC executive member Lungsing Teron were present in the inaugural ceremony of the circuit house.
