Braving light showers on Thursday morning hundreds of job aspirants staged protest demonstration in front of the panchayat and rural development office in Guwahati. They also demanded the government to hold the recruitment exam again.

They were protesting against large-scale anomalies during the combined competitive examination for various posts in the department held on last Sunday. Several candidates were found using mobile phones at many centres. There were reports of question papers leak and in many centres exam began several hours after the scheduled time.

The agitating job aspirants pointed out large-scale anomalies in various examination centres besides discrepancies in the question papers of the recruitment examination.

Despite protests officials of the department did not show any interest to listen to the grievances of the agitating job aspirants. They held the view that the government had already ordered a probe into the anomalies.

However, the protestors said they have lost faith in so called probe by the government. According to the job aspirants the government should hold recruitment examinations regularly.

“Organise the examination festival and make provision of fee exemption for the poor students. We will definitely donate money for the welfare of the poor students,” a job aspirant said.

The protesters expressed doubt on the investigation in the matter which was ordered by the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

The protesters also said that the BJP, which had come to power by reciting the compositions of the great poet of Assamese literature Ambikagiri Raichoudhury and Jyotiprasad Agarwala, has failed to provide job security to the crores of unemployed youths of the state.

Questioning about the discrepancies in the question papers of the recruitment test conducted, the protesters asked the Assam Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Naba Kumar Doley, “When is Assam Day observed?”

“All the four options given against the question were wrong. We would like to ask Naba Kumar Doley that does he know the answer.”
