BONGAIGAON: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Manager of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) at Bongaigaon in Assam.

CBI officials arrested FCI Manager Amit Biswas from Divisional Office Bongaigaon for allegedly accepting a bribe from the staff of a Nagaon-based tea estate.

“CBI laid a trap and caught the Manager, FCI red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the Complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused, which led to the recovery of incriminating documents, including immovable properties,” said a CBI official.

The CBI sleuths also raided the FCI’s Mayapuri office in Assam. The raid continued for nearly three hours.
