Northeast’s first solar toilet has been inaugurated in Manipur’s Ibudhou Marjing Hill Heingang by Tourism director Waikhom Ibohal.
This is India’s third such toilet.
Speaking at the inauguration, W. Ibohal said that he met an entrepreneur who explained to him the concept of such a technology while attending a global summit in Guwahati recently.
“If it is successful, the toilets can be installed at every tourism site in Manipur in the near future”, said Ibohal.
With the opening of this toilet, Manipur joins the rank of states like Tamil Nadu and Andhra-Pradesh.
Around 100 units will be installed in Manipur before October 2, reports Imphal Free Press.
“We are trying to install this solar toilet at neglected places and public places. Public will feel safe with the hygienic toilet,” founder, Ravi Senji said.
