Northeastโ€™s first solar toilet has been inaugurated in Manipurโ€™s Ibudhou Marjing Hill Heingang by Tourism director Waikhom Ibohal.

This is Indiaโ€™s third such toilet.

Speaking at the inauguration, W. Ibohal said that he met an entrepreneur who explained to him the concept of such a technology while attending a global summit in Guwahati recently.

โ€œIf it is successful, the toilets can be installed at every tourism site in Manipur in the near futureโ€, said Ibohal.

With the opening of this toilet, Manipur joins the rank of states like Tamil Nadu and Andhra-Pradesh.

Around 100 units will be installed in Manipur before October 2, reports Imphal Free Press.

โ€œWe are trying to install this solar toilet at neglected places and public places. Public will feel safe with the hygienic toilet,โ€ founder, Ravi Senji said.
