The All Assam Cine Producers’ Association will felicitate eminent filmmaker Hemen Das, who directed Mriganabhi in 2016, with Lifetime Achievers’ Award on May 27 next.
The Association’s general secretary, Jonmoni Khound, during a press meet in Guwahati said, “We will felicitate Hemen Das with Lifetime Achievers’ Award at Pragjyoti ITA Cultural Complex in Guwahati on May 27.”
The Association also informed that they would felicitate the producers of films, short films and documentaries who excelled in the national and international level in 2017.
Senior Assamese film producer Shankarlal Goenka will be the chief guest in the felicitation programme.
Producer Dara Ahmed, Jangdao Badosa and actor Bidya Rao among the film fraternity along with Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio chairman Pabitra Margherita will attend the programme.
President of the Association, Dilip Kumar Bora said, “People do not recognize the producers as they always stay behind the film. The concept of producer for the people in Assam is just a fund provider. Actually they sacrifice a lot for making a movie. Therefore we are trying to give recognition to the producers’ sacrifices.”
Talking about the various demands of the Association for making a government film policy, Khound said that the Association had discussed with the State Government for several times earlier.
