Udalguri along with the rest of the world, observed the 198th International Nurses Day under the theme “Health is human right”.

Under the aegis of Nurses of Udalguri Block PHC the day was celebrated at Bordoloi Bhawan premises in Tangla on Saturday.

Gracing the occasion as the chief guest, SDO(C) Bhergaon, D.Hazarika expressed his gratitude to the nursing fraternity for their tireless efforts and sacrifices towards serving the mankind.

Recalling Florence Nightingale, the English social reformer and the founder of modern nursing whose birth anniversary is commemorated as International Nurses Day, Hazarika acknowledged the strong commitment, compassion and dedication that nurses display in the practice of their profession.

“The day should be a source of inspiration for the people. Not only patients, the nurses and medical workers also have to render their sincere service with limited resources.” he added.

The job satisfaction of building human resource in teachers, giving new life to humans is comparable to none. The nurse and medical workers are often vulnerable to hooliganism by wards of patients. The police and civil administration exhorted the government to formulate laws to deal with such instances and protect the safety and security of the medical workers in hospitals. ”

He also said that the nurses and doctors should always be loving and caring and above all they need to smile so as to ease the patients at the first glance.

The bureaucrat also sang the immortal song  of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika ‘Manuhe Manuhor Babe‘ and entertained the nursing staff and medical workers.

Earlier Meera Boro delivered the welcome address. Sr. Medical and Health Officer Ganesh Chandra Brahma also spoke on the occasion.
