Lohri is a winter festival marking the beginning of harvest in the state of Punjab. It’s celebrated as a symbol of brotherhood and unity in the community.

People gather together in the night and have a bonfire. They offer gajak, popcorn, puffed rice and sesame seeds to the sacred fire as a way of paying gratitude to nature's bounty.

Some of the authentic Lohri food cuisines are Til chikki, Gur ki roti, murmura ladoo and til ki barfee.

People dress up in traditional Punjabi attire and perform bhangra in the beats of dhol.

Lohri surrounds around a popular folklore tale of Dulla Bhatti.
