Pranjal Rabha of Goalpara has emerged champion in the All Assam Prize Money Cycling Contest organized by the 64th edition of the Central (Sadou) Mangaldai Rongali Bihu Celebration Committee on Thursday.
Pranjal covered 35 kilometre distance from Baihata Chariali to Mangaldai Gandhi Maidan within a timing limit of one hour four minutes and twelve seconds.
Kokil Das of Guwahati offered tough challenge to Pranjal to bag the second position clocking a timing just two seconds more than the champion.
Parag Baruah of host Mangaldai finished third clocking a time of one hour five minutes. Sagar Deka (Mangaldai), Rimanju Roy (Guwahati), Jyoti Prasad Deka (Mangaldai) and Himangshu Saharia (Udalguri) finished from fourth to seventh position respectively. Thus the best three position holder cyclists have bagged a total prize money amount of Rs 24,000 besides separate trophies.
On the other hand, in the All Assam Prize Money Marathon race contest organized on Wednesday from Bijulibari, Sipajhar to the Bihu venue at Mangaldai, Bijoy Deka of Guwahati bagged the title.
The champion runner covered the total twenty kilometer distance clocking a time of one hour nine minutes and one second.
Sanidul Ali of Boko, Kamrup and Bipul Xatnami of Charaideo – Xapekhaity bagged the second and third position respectively. The winners altogether have bagged a prize money of Rs 24,000 along with separate trophies.
Out the total participants nineteen runners who completed the race included Superintendent of Police, Darrang Sreejith T., Assistant Superintendent of Police (Probation) Mohan Meena and young industrialist Sagar Deka.
