In a major breakthrough, the Teliamura Police in Tripura’s Khowai has been able to nab a contractor on charges of allegedly being involved in repeated sexual abuse of a minor.
Though the incident took place on February 11, 2018, it came to light recently as the alleged rapist threatened the victim of dire consequences if she reveals about the ghastly act.
The alleged rapist has been identified as Manoj Ghosh, who is a contractor by profession.
Sources said, “Taking advantage of the innocence of the minor girl, who went to meet her friend at Champai area under Khowai, was raped by Manoj Ghosh.”
“The accused threatened her to kill if she discloses about the incident of rape before anyone,” said sources, adding, “Since then, he continued to rape her.”

The accused was further produced before the Khowai Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate’s Court where the police sought to keep him under their custody. However, the court sent him to 14-day jail custody.
