A five-member delegation of all-party Public Accounts Committee of  Assam State Assembly, which visited Darrang on Tuesday, reportedly expressed dissatisfaction and concern over the snail pace of progress of the ongoing re-construction and widening of road along with drainage work of the NH-15 in the 40 KM stretch of Darrang district.

On their way to Mangaldai from Guwahati the team led by its Chairman and Congress MLA Rajdeep Goala inspected the ongoing work of the NH-15 at Narikoli and Kadamtoli and later during a review of the progress of the work with the officials of the concerned PWD (NH) Department expressed concern over narrowing down the breadth in some areas under the Mangaldai Municipal Board and also for leaving majority of the road stretch without construction.

The team of MLAs comprising Tapan Gogoi and Bhabesh Kalita from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Wazed Ali Choudhury of the Congress and Ramendra Narayan Kalita of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) as the members in the late afternoon inspected other few schemes including an approach road of a bridge in Jaberikuchi constructed by PWD Rural Roads, head works of the CM Dutta Flow Irrigation Project ,  a pipe water supply scheme of Mangaldai PHE Division and a newly-built dwelling house under PMGAY at Jaberikuchi village.

Earlier, they separately held discussions with the senior officials of different government departments for more than four hours and warned the officials of Water Resources, PHE, P& RD, PWD departments, etc. of the district of serious action for any misuse of public fund in the name of development schemes in last three years.

The delegates of the legislators after the hectic day-long schedule spent the night at Mangaldai Circuit House. The high-power committee is expected to submit a report to the Speaker of the State Assembly regarding their observation of the visit.
