It is nothing but a rare and unique feat.

Believe it or not, a mother-daughter duo is playing cricket in the same team at Badarpur in Karimganj district of Assam’s Barak valley.

Locals have dubbed this unique feat as a historic one and ever before heard of anywhere.

Inhabitants of Badarpur Jumbasti in Assam’s Karimganj district, Monidipa Kairi and her daughter Bahnnisikha represented Bangashri Club in the women cricket tournament organized by District Sports Association (DSA), Karimganj.

From her childhood, Monidipa loves playing cricket.

She played innumerable matches in Badarpur and after joining Eleven Bullet Club of Silcharm, she has been playing at several tournaments across the region.

In the year 1997, she got a chance to play for the Assam state team agaist Odisha.

In 2010 she was playing for Karimganj. But after her marriage, she distanced herself from sports.

Later, after her husband’s premature death, Minipida had again put on the pads to get over her sorrow and misfortune.

With a firm determination, she ultimately decided to stage a comeback to the cricket pitch for a second innings.

In the meantime, she also introduced her son and daughter into the field of sports and they also started playing cricket.

And as wished by her fate, Monidipa recently features in the playing eleven alongside her daughter in the same team.

Her daughter is also showing signs of becoming a good cricketer and Monidipa is leaving no stone unturned to give her daughter all the opportunities to pursue cricket as a profession.
