The 50th foundation day of Assam Agricultural University was celebrated on Sunday at Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science in North Lakhimpur.
Associate Dean of LCVSc Dr UR Tamuli hoisted the University flag at the college premises. Earlier college employees rendered a devotional song.
In his inaugural speech, Dr Tamuli elaborated the history and achievements of the university in the field of agricultural and animal husbandry and its future prospect in the coming days.
A small plantation drive was also carried out in the campus of LCVSc after the flag hoisting ceremony during the Assam Agricultural University foundation day celebration. Two progressive farmers namely Bidarva Rajkhowa of Lakhimpur district and Dr Tiken Kakoti of Dhemaji district were felicitated for their outstanding contributions in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry. The celebration ended with day long function with cultural and literacy programmes among the students.
