Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has announced her retirement plans.
Sania Mirza has said that 2022 will be her last season.
She confirmed her retirement plans after her first-round loss to in women’s doubles at the Australian Open.
“I feel recovery is taking time as I am getting older. I think my body is wearing down,” said Sania Mirza, who has six Grand Slams to her name.
She added: “The energy is not the same anymore. I still want to play this season… set an example for mothers and new mothers to follow their dreams.”

“At 35, I am waking up with couple of things that I don’t know where they’re coming from. I want to finish the season, try to play until US Open, that is my goal. But I still have to take it week-to-week,” she said.
Sania also happens to the only female tennis player from India to break into the top 30 WTA rankings.
Sania Mirza became world number one in doubles during her successful partnership with Swiss legend Martina Hingis.
