After Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urged Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers to leave their Personal Security Officer (PSO) cover, Barpeta’s MP Abdul Khaleque said that the Chief Minister himself should leave his PSO before asking others.
Khaleque reacting to the statements made by the Chief Minister said, “The CM urging people to give up their security cover is fine but before asking others, he should give his PSOs up.”
He added, “The CM claimed PSOs to be a Congress culture but we are proud to say that there are thousands in Congress who have no PSOs.”

He further said that even he was ready to give up his PSOs if the CM decides to withdraw his own first.
“I will even salute him if he decides to do so”, he added.
Earlier Assam Chief Minister said that the BJP workers in the state do not need PSOs (Personal Security Officers) because they have never done anything “bad”.
