As many as 11 bodies have been recovered by the search and rescue teams from the CDS Bipin Rawat helicopter crash site. 

14 people were on-board the IAF chopper that crashed between Coimbatore and Sulur in Tamil Nadu. 

The other 3 people have been rescued and shifted to the hospital for treatment. 

Those onboard included CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, Brigadier LS Lidder, Lieutenant Colonel Harjinder Singh, Naik Gursewak Singh, Naik Jitendra Kr, Lieutenant Naik Vivek Kumar, Lieutenant Naik B Sai Teja and Havildar Satpal.

Bodies recovered from the site of the crash have been taken to Military Hospital, Wellington in Tamil Nadu. 

“An IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter, with CDS Gen Bipin Rawat on board, met with an accident today near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu,” the IAF said. 

The IAF has also ordered an inquiry into the incident to ascertain the cause of the accident. 

Meanwhile, defence minister Rajnath Singh is monitoring the situation following crash of IAF chopper carrying CDS Bipin Rawat and others. 

On the other hand, Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin will arrive at Coimbatore from Chennai Airport later today and then move to Nilgiris, following the incident of military chopper crash between Coimbatore and Sulur.
