Six wild elephants trapped in a muddy pond in Western Assam’s Goalpara district were rescued following five-hour-long rescue operations on Friday.

According to the reports, a herd of six elephants was trapped in the muddy pond at Choibari area near Lakhipur on Friday morning.

Forest officials rushed to the spot after being informed by locals and started a rescue operation.

A forest official team dug up one side of the pond with the help of an excavator, facilitating the jumbos to climb up.

Earlier on Thursday, forest officials and local villagers rescued five elephants, including a calf, from the same pond after they were trapped in the same pond.
