Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu said the state-owned Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Ltd (HPDCAPL) targets to generate 3,000 MW electricity through small and mini hydro power projects by 2030.

Chief minister Khandu said this after inaugurating the 3 MW generation capacity Sumbachu Small Hydropower Project in Tawang district’s Zemithang village, 92 km from the district headquarters.

“Stand-alone hydropower projects are best solution to power requirements for areas off the grid,” chief minister Khandu tweeted.

While sharing pictures of the inaugural ceremony, Khandu on his Twitter handle on Thursday wrote: “Dedicated one such project Sumbachu 3MW SHP to the people at Zemithang in Tawang district, developed by state-owned Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Limited.”

“I have directed the Hydro Power Department to carry a survey across the state where similar power generating stations can be built. We are committed to provide power supply to every village of the state,” chief minister Khandu said.

On Thursday, chief minister Khandu also inaugurated the newly-bult museum-cum-library of the Gorzam Chorten at Zemithang in Tawang district.

“Inaugurated the newly established museum-cum-library of the Gorzam Chorten at Zemithang in Tawang district,” Khandu tweeted.

“Impressed by the museum’s rich collection of old Buddhist artifacts and manuscripts. It will help preserve and promote our ancient Buddhist traditions,” he added.

On Thursday, chief minister Khandu also attended a public function at Gorzam Chorten at Zemithang in Tawang district, made colorful with display of rich traditional wears and cultural activities.

“A great opportunity to be amongst the people, to interact with them and be made known of their grievances,” he mentioned while sharing pictures of the public function.
