Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday visited the agriculture project at Garukhuti-Dhalpur in Darrang district.
During his visit, chief minister Sarma observed that the multipurpose agriculture project at Garukhuti-Dhalpur has taken the desired shape.

The work of protecting the historical Shiva Temple has also been completed, chief minister Sarma said.
The project has been undertaken covering several thousand bighas of riverine char land at an initial estimated cost of nearly Rs 10 crore.
While talking to media persons during his visit to the area, chief minister Sarma said, “The job of giving a shape to the project has been over. Now, we will look for more land in and around Mangaldai to carry forward the further works of the project.”

Chief minister Sarma said, “We have also completed the protection of the Dhalpur Shiva temple.”
He announced an amount of Rs 1 crore for the construction of a Namghar at the project site and distributed warm garments to the employable youths at the project.
During his visit, Assam chief minister Sarma laid the foundation stone of several proposed government projects including an office building of agriculture officer, weaving training centre, mega cowshed (Goshala) and a road under APART.
Earlier, Sarma arrived at Garukhuti in a copter for his day-long visit.
Padma Hazarika, the chairman of the project and Sootea MLA, Dr Parmananda Rajbongshi, Sipajhar MLA were also present on the occasion.
