The Kohima police in Nagaland has issued traffic advisory to ensure smooth traffic during the 10-day Hornbill Festival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, in Kohima district from December 1 to December 10.  

Various events in different locations within Kohima town will be held during the Hornbill festival. 

Kohima police on Monday said that no heavy vehicles will be allowed to enter Kohima municipal area after 7 am till 10 pm during the period.

To mitigate traffic congestion, all heavy vehicles will be stopped at Chaprü Peducha, Jotsoma By-Pass and Khuzama Police check gate. 

All loading/unloading within Kohima municipal area must be completed before 7 am, the release said.

The road stretch from Y-Junction Phoolbari to Razhü Point will be restricted for vehicular traffic from 3 pm to 10 pm on all days during the festival to facilitate Kohima Night Carnival.  

All traffic will be diverted from Y-Junction to Razhü Point via Local Ground (Khuochiezie). 

There will be no entry for any vehicular traffic from New Market to New NST from 3 pm to 10 pm.  

No vehicles will be allowed to park between Classic Point and PHQ junction.  

All displaced vehicles along this stretch of the road will be parked at New Multi-Level Parking building, Old Medical Directorate.

The bus stand at PHQ junction (BOC bus stand) will be shifted from the present location to the area opposite NSF Martyrs’ Park area. 

Parking facilities will be available at New Multi-Level parking building, Old Medical Directorate, 

City Centre (Old MLA Hostel building) and Northern Gate Local Ground (Khuochiezie). 

All commercial pick-up vehicles will be allowed to park at KMC Chaü Parking, Forest Colony and Tata Parking, Bayavü.  

No commercial pick-up vehicles will be allowed to park in any unauthorised parking areas.

Commuters traversing between Kohima and Kisama and also those commuting within Kohima have been advised to NH-29 – Merhülietsa Colony (Para – Medical) – Old Fira Jn. Route, T.C.P Gate – Midland – Lower Chandmari – A.G Colony – Lerie – NH-29 route, BSNL Jn – Old Ministers’ Hill – New Ministers’ Hill  – Aradhura – New Reserve – NH-29 route and NHK junction – New Market – Nagabazar – Census Office junction to avoid traffic congestion. 

The Kohima police sought cooperation of everyone in this regard.
