One person was killed in an attack by an injured rhino at Dhakuakhana in Assam’s Lakhimpur district on Friday.
The victim has been identified by 45-year-old Sunil Doley.
The incident took place in Abhaypur Mazgaon under Dhakuakhana police station when Sunil Doley (45), a farmer, was attacked by a rhino in his paddy field.

His wife somehow escaped the attack.
The victim was rushed to the hospital on a cart but declared brought dead.
The villagers complained that they had informed the forest department about the sighting of the rhino earlier.

The Lakhimpur district forest department has launched an operation to tranquilize the injured rhino in the area.
According to the district forest department, the rhino was injured after poachers had shot at the animal inside the Kaziranga National Park.
The rhino strayed from Kaziranga National Park (KNP) and entered Dhakuakhana through the Majuli island.
