Regional carrier Flybig has launched direct flight service between Lilabari and Guwahati.
The maiden Flybig flight arrived at Lilabari Airport of Lakhimpur district from Lokpriya Gopinath LGBI Airport, Guwahati at 4:30 pm and flew back at 5 pm on Wednesday.
The air service by Flybig on this route was made functional under the UDAN initiative connecting regional destinations.
The chief executive officer of Flybig, Sanjay Mandavia, in a press statement said the airline will fly four times a week on this route on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at an all-inclusive low fare of Rs 999.
The flight will leave Guwahati to Lilabari at 4 pm and leave Lilabari to Guwahati at 5 pm on these four days.
He also said Flybig would soon connect the entire Northeast to boost the tourism sector in this region.
Assam education minister Dr. Ranoj Kumar Pegu, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka and Lakhimpur deputy commissioner Sumit Sattawan travelled in the maiden flight to Lilabari from Guwahati.
It may be mentioned that the direct flight between Guwahati and Lilabari remained suspended from mid-2019 as Air India and SpiceJet pulled out from their service under UDAN.
However, Air India is still operating direct flight between Lilabari and Kolkata.
