At least 413 children were among 8,614 people, who tested positive for Covid19 in Mizoram in the last two days (Saturday & Sunday), an official said.
The Covid19 count crossed the 70,000-mark in Mizoram on Sunday as 1,089 people tested positive for the infection, he said.
On Saturday, Mizoram reported 725 Covid19 cases.
The death toll rose to 234 as four more people succumbed to the infection between Saturday and Sunday, he said.
The single-day infection rate rose from 10.73% on Saturday to 13.98% on Sunday, he said.
Of the total 8,614 cases reported in two days, Aizwal district reported the highest number of fresh cases at 1,073, followed by Lunglei 144 and Siaha at 121, he said.
Of the 8,614 patients, at least 918 have developed symptoms of Covid19, the official said.
Mizoram’s total Covid19 count now stands at 70,840, of which 12,016 are active.
As many as 58,543 people have recovered from the infection, including 368 on Sunday till 5 pm, a government bulletin said.
At least 63 persons per 1,000 thousand population in Mizoram have been infected with Covid19 so far.
A total of 21 persons per 1 lakh population have succumbed to the infection till date, according to the bulletin.
The state has conducted more than 9.63 lakh sample tests till date, the bulletin said.
According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, over 6.63 lakh people have been vaccinated till Saturday, of which 2.98 lakh have received full doses.
