Illegal trading of IMFL allegedly in connivance with a section of corrupt excise and police officials has been going in some roadside dhabas and restaurants in Assam’s Darrang district, particularly in the Dalgaon area.

This could be evident from the fact when Darrang excise team on Saturday evening seized a big illegal consignment of Indian-made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from a dhaba at Burhigaon under Dalgaon police station.

An excise department source on Sunday informed Northeast Now that a raid was carried out on Saturday evening at Burhigaon under Dalgaon police station where there are many roadside dhabas and restaurants.

During the raid, an illegal consignment of 111 bottles of IMFL was seized from Ganesh dhaba run by one Arun Singh.

However, the owner Singh managed to escape.

In this connection, a case has been lodged under section 53 (1)(a) of the Assam Excise Act, 2018.
