As part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations, the Rangia military station in Assam has bid a grand send-off to the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal (Victory flame).
The Swarnim Vijay Varsh is being celebrated to commemorate 50 years of India’s magnificent victory over Pakistan in 1971.
A grand function was organised at the Rangia military station to bid send off to the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal on September 5, which included Guard of Honour and Band Display.
“The event saw representation from civil administration, doctors, nurses, veer naries, war veterans, ESMs, teachers, children including NCC cadets, military, paramilitary, railways, police officials, NGOs and members of gram panchayat,” read a statement.

“With heart swelled with pride and honour the Red Horns division bid farewell to the victory flame,” the statement added.
Earlier, on its journey from Hathigarh to Rangia the victory flame received a befitting welcome from Railways, who played a crucial role in the 1971 War.
“The NF (Northeast Frontier) Railways paid its tribute to the victory flame at the Rangia junction,” the statement further read.
The Mashaal commenced its journey from National War Memorial in New Delhi on December 16 last year.
