The 14-year-old girl, who was found dead at her home at Kharguli area in Assam’s Guwahati on Wednesday, was allegedly killed by her cousin.

The development was revealed during police investigation on Thursday.

The accused cousin allegedly confessed to his crime before the police during questioning.

The accused cousin has been identified as 20-year-old Abhishek Gupta, aka Asik.

According to police, the accused confessed to ‘killing’ his cousin sister following an argument between the two.

The accused said that his cousin, the victim, had at first slapped him during the argument, after which he, out of rage, killed her by hitting her with pressure cooker and a stone.

Moreover, the accused, after killing his cousin, threw the SIM card of the victim’s mobile phone at the residence of a neighbour.

According to sources, the accused is a drugs addict and for the past few days was deprived of contraband substances.

Meanwhile, a section of locals of the area has written to Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over the incident demanding stringent action against the culprit.

On Thursday evening, the victim was cremated at the Nabagraha crematorium in Guwahati.
