Assam minister Chandra Mohan Patowary has stoked a controversy regarding COVID-19.

Patowary, while speaking to the media on Thursday said that COVID-19 was “created in a God’s computer”.

He further said that God has ‘prepared’ a list of those who will die due to the infection.

“COVID-19 is created in God’s Computer. God has prepared a list of those who will die of it,” Assam minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said.

He added: “That is why footpath dwellers, despite not wearing masks, have not been infected with the virus.”

This statement by the senior BJP leader and Assam cabinet minister comes at a time when many in the state are still losing their lives to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, many in the state have slammed the Assam minister for his ‘insensitive’ remark.
