The Assam government on Tuesday announced that the incoming passengers will be exempted from mandatory testing for Covid19 at the airports, railway stations and road border points in the state.
The health department of Assam on Tuesday issued an order in this regard.
The order, issued by Anurag Goel, principal secretary to health & family welfare department of Assam, said “strict containment measures including continuous screening of incoming passengers through airports, railway stations and roads are being conducted in the state of Assam to prevent spread of COVID-19”
Goel said Covid19 positivity is gradually decreasing in the state and the country now,
Testing facilities are now available across the country to provide standardized Covid testing reports within 24 hours and upload the same in ICMR portal for cross verification, he said.
The principal secretary to the state health department said “the number of people vaccinated twice in the country has increased significantly”.
In partial modification of the health department’s earlier Order No. HLA.301/2020/175, issued on April 13, 2021 and in cancellation of the department’s earlier Notification No. HLA.247/2020/60, issued on July 15, 2021, some measures have been adopted for ensuring the safety and convenience of all the passengers travelling to Assam through air, railway and road transportation, the order said.
“All incoming passengers, who have been vaccinated with two doses of COVID-19 vaccines and possess such certificate, on production of the same in front of screening authority, shall be exempted from mandatory testing on arrival at airports, railway stations, road border points etc. in Assam provided they also possess a negative COVID test report of samples taken within 72 hours of their arrival in Assam,” the order said.
However, the passengers who are symptomatic shall have to undergo mandatory RT-PCR testing at their own cost on arrival at the airports and railway stations in Assam, the order said.
“This notification shall come into force with immediate effect,” IAS officer Anurag Goel said in the order.
On Monday, Assam recorded 10 deaths due to Covid19 infection and 758 new positive cases.
Assam’s positivity rate stood at 0.69% on Monday.
Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district recorded 163 cases and the state’s overall recovery rate stood at 97.49%.
