Notably last month, a total of 42 children were rescued by Assam Police in Sikkim.
These children from Assam were trafficked to Sikkim by a racket operated by Krishna Yogi, who has been arrested.

The parents of the children were falsely lured with better-paying employment opportunities for their children.
Of the 13 children rescued on Tuesday, six were male and seven were female.
“Following interrogation of Krishna Yogi, it was revealed that 13 more children were still engaged in different households in Sikkim,” DSP of Chirang district in Assam – Laba Kumar Deka said.
All the 55 children (42 rescued on July 23 and 13 today) were rescued from Sikkim’s capital Gangtok, Sintam in East Sikkim district and Ranipool and Namchi in South Sikkim.

The rescued children hail from an economically backward area in Assam’s Chirang district along the India-Bhutan border.
“The accused – Krishna Yogi took advantage of the economic condition of the family of the children and trafficked them, promising good money to the family,” the Chirang DSP said.
