The Chandel district in Manipur has topped the list of aspirational districts ranked by the Niti Aayog for the month of June.

While confirming the news Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh in a tweet on Wednesday expressed his happiness.

“Happy to learn that Chandel District in Manipur topped the list of aspirational districts ranked by Niti Aayog for the month of June,” chief minister N Biren tweeted.

“The delta ranking took into account incremental progress made by over 112 aspirational districts across six developmental areas in June 2021,” the Manipur chief minister added.

Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant in a tweet on Tuesday said the Chandel district has shown significant improvement in institutional deliveries and access to clean drinking water.

“Delighted to share that Manipur’s #AspirationalDistrict Chandel has secured 1st rank in the delta ranking for June 2021,” Kant tweeted.

“The district has shown significant improvement in institutional deliveries & access to clean drinking water. Many congratulations to the district team!”, he added.

While sharing some produces, Kant said, “Aspirational District Chandel has been producing a range of value-added minor forest products, benefitting its tribal population.”

He further said, “With continued support from TRIFED, the district is improving livelihoods and empowering the vulnerable population. Best wishes to the district!”

Chandel district is situated in the eastern-most part of the country and shares more than 100 km of open, porous international border with Myanmar.

The district in Manipur has recorded a sharp improvement from its 30th position in the February rankings to the top rank.

All the five districts which have recorded the most improved performance in June have made remarkable progress from their February rankings.
