One more personnel of the Assam Police has succumbed to bullet injuries that he sustained on Monday after Mizoram police opened fire during an inter-state border clash.
The deceased cop has been identified as Shyamprasad Dusat from the 6th Assam Police Battalion.
With the demise of Dusat, the death toll on Assam side due to Monday’s clash has now risen to seven.
On Monday, five Assam Police personnel and one civilian had died due to firing by Mizoram Police.

Dusat breathed his last at the Silchar Medica College and Hospital (SMCH) on Tuesday evening.
Condoling the demise of Shyamprasad Dusat, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said: “I am sad to inform that Shyamprasad Dusat of 6th AP Bn has succumbed to his abdominal bullet injury at SMCH. He couldn’t be operated or moved to Guwahati because of his worsening condition. I salute the brave martyr and bow in reverence. My heartfelt condolences to the family.”

Earlier, Assam chief minister has claimed that Mizoram Police had opened fire with light machine guns (LMGs) on Monday that claimed the lives of six Assam Police personnel and one civilian.
“Mizoram had opened fire with light machine guns (LMGs) for about 30 to 35 minutes,” the Assam chief minister had said.
