Congress MLA from Pasighat West constituency in Arunachal Pradesh – Ninong Ering has slammed the Assam Government for maintaining an “aggressive stance” against neighbouring states. 

Speaking to this correspondent Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering said that Assam is ‘behaving’ like a bully with neighbouring states by maintaining an “aggressive stance” over possession of land.

“Assam is like big brother. But that doesn’t give it the right to bully neighbouring states,” Arunachal Pradesh MLA Ninong Ering said. 

Ering was reacting to a media report that he shared in his twitter handle. According to the media report, “armed personnel of the Assam battalion reportedly destroyed a paddy field at Longkhojan village in Kanubari area of Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh on July 19”.

Ering said that he had spoken to the locals in Kanubari, who ‘confirmed’ the incident. 

“I spoke to the locals and they have informed me that it is a regular affair. Peace should prevail and such incidents should be settled cordially. We are peaceful and expect Assam also be reciprocal,” Ninong Ering said. 

Speaking about the clashes that broke out along the Assam-Mizoram border on Monday, Arunachal Pradesh MLA Ninong Ering termed the incident unfortunate. 

“What happened in Assam-Mizoram border on Monday was really unfortunate. But it must also be noted what led to the tragedy,” Ering said while speaking to this correspondent.
