The Udalguri district committee of Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS) members along with a number of HSLC and HS examinees staged a human chain protest in Tangla town of Udalguri district.
They demanded a rollback of the Assam government’s evaluation formula for HSLC and HS examinations this year under SEBA and AHSEC in Assam.
Addressing a gathering, the convenor of SMSS Udalguri chapter, Indraneel Deka said, “The government has devised an evaluation procedure for the HSLC and HS examinees this year.”
“It is quite astonishing that the marksheets will only be valid for getting admissions in higher institutions and not securing jobs,” Deka said.
“Such strange decision has put the student’s fraternity in a great dilemma,” Deka added.
Zubeen Nath, another HS examinee said, “The government has taken an arbitrary decision which has pushed the students’ future to the edge of uncertainty.”
Another student, Manab Jyoti Talukdar echoing the sentiments of the students said, “The government must roll back the decision and take the stakeholders of the society into confidence before minting out any fresh decisions.”
