Celebrating the โ€˜Rabha Divasโ€™ on Sunday the Asom Yuva Parishad (AYP) conferred the โ€˜Kalaguru Botaโ€™ on Assamese artiste Pabitra Rabha.

โ€˜Rabha Divasโ€™ is celebrated across Assam to honour the Assamese cultural icon Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha.

The award was presented to the National School of Drama (NSD) alumni at his residence in Jalah village on the outskirts of Tangla in Assamโ€™s Udalguri district.

Rabha runs the theatre troupe โ€˜Dapon-The Mirrorโ€™ that have staged plays across India.

His role in mentoring dwarf actors of Assam and helping them to become successful theatre personalities is notable.

The award carried a bihuwan, Xorai, Japi, memento, certificate and an honorarium.

โ€œWe must honour the persons who have been constantly endeavoring towards the inclusive growth of the community in particular and society at large,โ€ said Jitu Borgohain, president of Asom Yuva Parishad.

AYP members also extended rations for the dwarf theatre artistes of Dapon โ€“ The Mirror.
