At least 236 people, including 4 security personnel, have tested positive for novel coronavirus in Mizoram, pushing the state’s Covid-19 caseload to 16,135, an official said on Thursday.
The state also reported two more Covid-19 fatalities, which the death toll to 74, he said.
Of the fresh 236 cases, Aizawl reported 177 cases, Kolasib district (25), Siaha district (12), Lunglei district (9), Khawzawl and Serchhip districts reported 3 each, Mamit, Lawngtlai and Saitual districts- 2 each and Hnahthial district reported 1 case.
The fresh cases detected from 3,021 samples put the single-day infection rate at 7.81 per cent, he said.
Two personnel each of Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF), a healthcare worker and over 40 children were among the newly infected people, he said.
Four patients have travel history and the rest 232 were found to have locally contracted the infection, the official said.
137 patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19, while 93 are asymptomatic and reports of the remaining 6 patients whether or not they are symptomatic is awaited, he added.
The state has tested 4,42,020 samples for Covid-19 till date.
According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, 3,35,477people have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine till Wednesday and of this 53,272 people have received both the doses.
