Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Saturday inspected a 300-bedded Covid care centre coming up in the premises of the Manipur University in Imphal.
Singh said that this new Covid care centre will greatly help in reducing the load of Covid-19 patients admitted in other similar centres in the state capital.
The centre will be ready for use by next week.
The chief minister also inaugurated a 60-bedded Covid care centre at Canchipur in Imphal West district to treat Covid-19 patients, including children.

30 of these beds will solely be reserved for children testing positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, a total of 717 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Manipur during the past 24 hours.
Nine people have succumbed to the virus, taking the total death toll to 872 in the state.
The total active cases in the state stands at 9,016.
