Former Dhemaji MLA Romesh Mohon Kuli’s son and IRS officer Niranjan Kuli has died of Covid19.
Kuli passed away on Friday at Max Hospital in Delhi.
He was an IRS officer from the 1988 batch.
Kuli was serving as the principal commissioner of Income Tax.
Kuli was also an accomplished painter and his paintings were displayed in various exhibitions across India.
His father, Romesh Mohon Kuli, was a two-time MLA from Dhemaji Assembly constituency.
Romesh Mohon Kuli won the Assam Assembly elections on Swatantra Party ticket in 1967 and 1972.
Informing about Kuli’s demise, filmmaker Utpal Borpujari tweeted on Friday night: “Today, when Niranjan Kouli fell to post-Covid complications after a grim battle in Max Hospital Delhi, just mechanically adding another friend’s name to the list of all the departed since April.”
“…Had met him first as the husband of college friend @RinaSonowal , but despite being a few years senior, he became a dear friend with his cool personality… and quiet sense of humour.
“An IRS officer from the 1988 batch, he was an accomplished painter too and his paintings travelled to exhibitions across India. Heartfelt condolences to Rina and family,” he added.
