A day after the Tripura West district magistrate Raval Hamendra Kumar issued an order approving setting up of a paid covid care centre at a private hotel, the opposition CPI-M has accused the ruling BJP-led government in the State of shying away from responsibilities.
The CPI-M said that “it is clear from the order of the district magistrate and the decision of the state government that the present BJP-IPFT coalition government in the state is on the path of unofficial treatment and diagnosis of Covid patients”.
The district magistrate’s order mentioned that the daily rent of staying in the hotel, cost of food for patients and the cost of medical services are to be added separately.
The CPI-M also said that complaints that have surfaced since the onset of the corona virus infection have led the government to shift away from its responsibilities of expanding and strengthening public health care in India.

The opposition party also alleged that Coronavirus infections and related deaths are on the rise, as government health infrastructure has not expanded.
“The Modi government is ignoring the demand for diagnosis and mass vaccination. Government agencies have not yet been given any licenses or approvals for the production of the corona vaccine,” the CPI-M said.
“…now the BJP-led state government has allowed non-governmental organizations (private) to open paid Covid Care Centers at exorbitant prices without fulfilling its responsibility to expand and strengthen health services against Covid. It is inhumane,” the CPI-M said.
