The priests of Kohima diocese have come forward to extend a helping hand to the people affected by Covid19 in whatever manner they can in this time of need in Nagaland.

The priests have created a fund to help the affected people with the subsidy they usually receive through PRIM (Priest Help Priests).

The money has been pooled together and entrusted to Fr. Charles, director, Development Association of Nagaland (DAN), the social service wing of the diocese of Kohima, located at the Carmel Campus, 4th Mile in Dimapur.

Secretary to the Bishop, in a release on Sunday, said those, who need help by way of dry ration, food items, medical support and other emergency relief may approach the DAN office by calling 9436009529, 8732059971 and 03862242799.

Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, the Bishop, assured the government and district authorities that the Catholic church would extend all possible help during this time of crisis, especially by making available the infrastructural facilities, especially the schools, in every district in Nagaland for quarantining people if necessary.

On Saturday, Nagaland reported 6 Covid-related deaths and 304 new positive cases.

Among the new cases, 148 were recorded in Dimapur, 121 in Kohima, 11 in Mokokchung, 10 in Tuensang, four in Mon, three each in Phek and Wokha, two in Zunheboto and one each in Longleng and Kiphire.
