Rajasthan will go on a two-week complete lockdown from Monday till May 3 in view of the alarming surge in Covid-19 cases across the state.

The Rajasthan government on Sunday announced the lockdown terming it the ‘Jan Anushasan Pakhwara’ (public discipline fortnight).

More than 10,000 fresh cases of Covid-19 were detected in Rajasthan on Sunday, of which 2000 were detected in Jaipur alone.

The disease claimed 42 lives in the state on Sunday.

There are presently 67,387 active cases in Rajasthan.

As per the government order, all commercial establishments, offices and markets will remain shut during this period, a report stated.

However, essential services like hospitals, banks, dairy and grocery stores and pharmacies will operate during the lockdown period.

People will be able to purchase edibles like vegetables, fruits, milk and grocery items from shops till 7 pm on all days.

While restaurants and hotels will remain closed, food takeaway services and shops selling sweets will remain operational till 8 pm on all days.

Moreover, the Rajasthan government has allowed industrial units to operate in state so as to prevent the migration of people employed there.

Passengers will be allowed to proceed on their journey after showing their travel tickets.
