Kiphire aspirational district in Nagaland ranked first in the health and nutrition sector and second in the basic infrastructure among the aspirational districts in the country in 2021.

NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said this at a meeting in Kiphire deputy commissioner’s office on Wednesday.

Kant along with NITI Aayog director Soumitra Mandal is on a visit to the Kiphire district of Nagaland.

Kant also sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the appointment of science and maths teachers in the district.

He urged the Nagaland Government to post doctors and maths and science teachers in the district at the earliest.

He said it requires hard work for the success of any aspirational district and to become the number one aspirational district in the country.

Stating that correct data is very important to measure improvement in developmental activities in a district, he stressed the role of doctors and teachers in the health and education sector.

He also said the district can be developed if the various projects taken up are properly implemented and managed.

Kant added that the health and nutrition sector and action plan for skill development of youth must be improved for the district to prosper.

Kant assured of the central government’s support for developmental activities in the district.

They later visited Kiphire district hospital, Government Middle School and Anganwadi Centre in Kiphire village and ITI Centre, Kiphire.

They also had a meeting with United Sangtam Likhum Pumji, Yimchunger Tribal Council and Sumi Tribal Council.

The agriculture department gave a PowerPoint presentation at the meeting chaired by Kiphire deputy commissioner T Wati Aier.

Nagaland additional development commissioner Nosazol Charles, principal director, school education, C Shanavas, tribal bodies, gaon burhas and senior government officials, among others, attended the meeting.
