Tripura government will be conducting a three-day special Covid-19 vaccination drive in the state in view of the spike in positive cases.
While the second phase of the nation-wide vaccination drive is already underway, the Tipura health department is taking special measures to vaccinate those among the targeted age-groups who have not come to take the vaccine.
On the other hand, the opposition parties accused the state government of closing down testing centres in the past few months.
During the special vaccination drive that began on Wednesday and continue till 26 March those above 60 years and those in the age group 45-59 years with co-morbid conditions will be able to take the Covid-19 vaccine in any government hospital across the state for free.
National Health Mission (NHM) Tripura mission director Siddharth Shiv Jaisawal said, “43,000 thousand health workers and 57,000 field level staff have been vaccinated in the state. Altogether, 2,75,000 people have received the Covid-19 vaccine here.”
Health workers are also making door-to-door visits to make encourage people to get themselves vaccinated.
A total of six people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

A total of 53 people have tested positive this month, with the total number of positive cases reaching 33,470 in Tripura.
The state has a total of 36 positive cases, revealed health officials.
The virus has so far claimed 389 lives in Tripura.
Till today the state has registered 33470 covid positive cases, which is the second largest in the region.
