Mohilary urged the tribal community voters to take a ‘united stand’ and elect a Congress-led alliance in order to protect their ethnic identity.

Former Bodo Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary has affirmed that Congress Mohajoot or grand alliance will form the next government in the Assam without any hassle.

Addressing an election rally at Simenchapori (Sanjari Nigiir) on Tuesday, Mohilary alleged that BJP was adopting a divide and rule policy over tribal communities of the State to grab power.

The Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BPF) president said that Bodo Kachari Autonomous Council (BKAC) granted by the State government (out of the BTAD) is a mere namesake as it has not yet created official posts for the functioning of the Council Secretariat.

“Granting of BKAC for widespread Bodo Kochari people is nothing but BJP’s unholy tactics to entice voters of the community for the election. The Bodo Kochari people of the State are not with BJP as they understood its betraying policy,” Mohilary said.

He urged the tribal community voters to take a ‘united stand’ and elect a Congress-led alliance in order to protect their ethnic identity.

According to Mohilary, it is not possible for BJP to form a rigid government without BPF support.

He also predicted that BJP is going to lose more than 20 seats to Congress Mahajoot in North Assam and Lower Assam region including eight MLAs within BTAD/BTR.

The BPF chief urged the people of Jonai to cast their votes for Jonai Congress candidate Hema Hari Prasanna Pegu.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee senior spokesperson Apurva Bhattacharya, who addressed the rally, termed the election as a “Struggle for existence” and a battle to uproot corrupt BJP from Assam.

Vehemently criticizing the BJP government in the State, Bhattacharya said the BJP, which promised to protect public properties, is selling them one by one.

He called upon the citizens not to forget the “agonies” suffered in the last five years due to BJP’s misrule.

He said that Jonai MLA Bhuban Pegu has betrayed his  Mishing people and ultimately shifted his political base to corrupt BJP, leaving his own Sanmilita Gana Sakti Asom (SGSA) in a tizzy state.

Speaking on the occasion, AICC leader Mohan Prakash said the Congress party is going on with ‘Five Guarantees’.

“This is not a battle of the Congress candidate, but a battle of the people of Assam to root out BJP rule”, he said.
