The Serchhip battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles on Tuesday recovered 235 bags of areca nuts from Rauntlang village in Mizoram’s Champhai district.
The areca nuts were recovered during a joint operation conducted by Assam Rifles jawans and Custom Preventive Force officials in Rauntlang village.

The areca nuts are estimated to be worth Rs 52,64,000.
The Assam Rifles has in collaboration with various departments concerned seized several consignments of different contrabands meant to be smuggled across the Indo-Myanmar border.
Cross-border smuggling activities have seen a marked increase in the state.
