As fear of a second wave of COVID-19 in Assam rises, the State has recorded one more death due to the deadly virus. 

A 50-year-old man in Assam‘s Silchar has succumbed to COVID-19. 

The deceased person has been identified as Monahar Gorh. 

Monahar Gorh lost the battle to COVID-19 at the Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) on Sunday. 

This is the first death due to COVID-19 in Cachar district of Assam since January this year.  

As per SMCH authorities, the deceased person was admitted to the hospital on March 17 for treating tuberculosis. 

Monahar Gorh was tested positive for COVID-19 upon conducting Rapid-Antigen test on admission to the hospital. 

Monahar Gorh was a resident of Dayapur village in Cachar district.

Principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Dr Babul Bezbaruah has warned of a second wave of COVID-19 in the State. 

Dr Bezbaruah said, “It is high time to be alert for a second wave.”
