Sensation prevails after another man became the victim of mob lynching in the Karbi Anglong district.

A 40-year-old man was lynched at Karashi Bey village under Bakalia police station in Karbi Anglong district on Sunday night.

The police have arrested a total of 8 suspects in connection with the killing.

The victim has been Monsing Rongpi (40), a resident of Barelong Bey village under Bakalia police station, was allegedly caught in an “objectionable position” with a woman from Karashi Bey village by the villagers.

Later, a mob took the man to the village playground and tied him to a football goalpost.

The mob then beat him with bamboo sticks and assaulted with sharp weapons as a result of which Bey died.

The police came to know about the incident on Monday morning when some locals informed the Bakalia police station.

The police took the body in their custody and sent it to the Diphu Medical College Hospital for conducting post-mortem.

A case no. 09/21 has been registered with Bakalia police station and 5 suspects have been arrested in this connection.

The arrested are Sampri Teron (24), Kahanbamon Tokbi (18), Siva Ronghang, Waisong Kramsa (19), Jip Enghi, Hukumsing Ranghang (18), Rustom Rangphar (25) and Dhaniram Rangphar (30).
